26 Aug ERIK MERINO STARTS SEASON AT VERCORSMAN TRIATHLON
The professional triathlete from Muntanyola, Erik Merino (Club Triatló Granollers)
He will compete this coming weekend in the first triathlon of the season.
The chosen test is the VercorsMan, a medium distance triathlon that is dispute in the French town of Saint Nazaire-en-Royans (Vercors- Alps).
It is the first edition of this triathlon that consists of 2,200m of swimming in the La Bourne River, followed by a demanding 120-kilometer cycle circuit with more than 3,000m of accumulated positive elevation gain. Triathletes
they will pass through the Vercors Massif and will have to overcome two great ports. The Col de la Machine (13km at 6%) and the very long Col du Mont Noir (26km at 4%).
The final section of the running race consists of 3 laps of 7 kilometers to complete a half marathon (21km) around Saint-Nazaireen-Royans.
The organization has everything prepared to guarantee the safety of all participants and families.
The test has a total of 350 participants and among the favorites we can find the last two winners of the Embrunman, the French William Mennesson or the Belgian Diego Van Looy, and high-level athletes such as
Romain Guillaume, Timothy Van Houten or Robin Pastour.
