09 Jun Valeria Antolino: “My goal is to be a world and Olympic medalist”
Valeria Antolino, the new promise of the Spanish jump. Having new horizons, Cinc interviews an athlete who has conquered us.
¿What were your first steps in the sports?
I did a lot of things before starting my sport. I did ballet, I played violin, I did gymnastics, I danced flamenco but then, I didn’t want to do any of that, until I saw diving. I left every thing at 6 years old and continued with my sports career.
¿Do you remember your first competition? What and how was it?
I remember as if it were yesterday, I was very nervous, many of my family came to see me, although the competition did not go very well for me, I was very happy and motivated me to train much more, since at that age all the children want to get a medal.
How much time do you spend daily on your workouts?
I dedicate to my workouts 5 to 6 hours a day in total, I train twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon and on Sundays I rest.
How would you say your sports evolution has been in recent years?
My evolution in recent years has been very good, especially very happy with my results, European medalist, finalist in the junior world championship, finalist in the senior European championship, finalist in the Y. Olympic Games and that motivates me to keep fighting to achieve everything I set out to do.
How did you feel when you went to your first World Championship? What was that first experience like?
My first Cto. del Mundo Junior was a very nice experience since apart from competing, you also share with your friends and meet many new people.
How do you feel when in a competition you are on the edge of the trampoline ready to jump? What do you think in those moments?
This is a question that many people tell me and it is difficult to answer, at the moment you are on the platform or on the trampoline, it is a time when you should have more concentration, the only thing I think about is my corrections for the day by day, and when I am very nervous, I sing and that relaxes me.
Do you have an important reference for you in this sport?
One of my idols in my sport are: David Boudia and Tom Daley
What would you say is your main objective in your sports career?
My goal in my sport is to become a world and Olympic medalist.
